Flight training, maintenance & Robinson
expertise
rooted in the Great Smoky Mountains
Sevier County Choppers was built around a simple idea: do aviation the right way and treat people well while you’re doing it.
What started with a passion for helicopters and hands-on flying has grown into a full-service aviation operation serving pilots, aircraft owners, and visitors from across the country.
Today, everything we do lives under one roof—from flight training and aircraft maintenance to FAA-certified Robinson helicopter overhauls and unforgettable scenic flights over the Smoky Mountains.
That combination gives us a unique perspective. We don’t just teach people how to fly—we maintain the aircraft, rebuild them, and rely on the same standards we expect when our own wheels leave the ground.
Based at the Gatlinburg–Pigeon Forge Airport, our team brings together experienced instructors, skilled technicians, and aviation professionals who care about safety, craftsmanship, and doing honest work. Whether you’re taking your first lesson, maintaining your aircraft, or seeing the mountains from the air, you’ll feel the difference that comes from working with people who truly live aviation.
This flight is a good introduction to the helicopter experience. You’ll climb to 800 feet and will enjoy a bird’s eye view of the Smoky Mountains while flying over the city of Sevierville.
See the many attractions located in Pigeon Forge from 1,000 feet. You will also be gazing at the majestic Smoky Mountains in the distance. See if you can spot a large rock quarry, Parrot Mountain and Dollywood during this flight!
Sit back and relax during this pilot’s choice tour. From breathtaking Wears Valley to the 4,077 foot tall Cove Mountain to the charming town of Gatlinburg you will not tire of the view. It almost seems like you can reach out and touch the mountains which dominate in every direction.
You’ll fly above the 1,000–3,000-foot peaks that edge the national park, with clear views of landmarks like Splash Country, English Mountain, and Douglas Lake along the route.
From our professional pilot program to one-time discovery flights, We will work with you to provide the training you need.
We offer both part 61 and part 141 flight training from private pilot to certified flight instructor.
We offer a whole array of flight training options for fixed wing students.
We’re proud and excited to bring our individual focus, effective, and efficient flight training methodology to airplane instruction.

The helicopter side of the school is awesome and the airplane side with Michael Curtis heading the airplane program has made leaps and bounds. All the instructors are incredibly dedicated and knowledgeable. Also with an incredibly intelligent helicopter DPE at the airport. Helicopter maintenance is handled quickly and efficiently with an in house certified Robison repair shop at the airport as well. Huge props to the program for getting my Rotorcraft private through commercial certifications done in three months. With a huge accomplishment to Michael Curtis for getting my commercial airplane done in a little less than a month as well. Michael is an extremely dedicated and talented pilot who cares for his student and puts in the extra time and work to make sure his students are squared away on the written, staying late for oral preparation for the checkride with students as well as explaining airplane maneuvers in terms that are easy to understand to students! I will always sing this schools praises for their effect teaching and willingness to go the extra mile for their students.Posted on John TrolingerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Top of the line flight school, repair station, and helicopter maintenance facility. Go from zero to CFI here fixed and rotary training.Posted on Brad F (Brad)Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We took my daughter here for a helicopter ride for her 10th birthday. This group of people are amazing! Everyone was personable and professional from beginning to end. I highly recommend using them if you're considering a helicopter or plane tour over the area. And don't forget to tip your pilot.
